Sewer Line Inspection in Davis – Dual Access Points & ABS Pipe Condition

Posted

Inspection Walkthrough

First Video – West Side of the House. We accessed the line through the RV sewer connection on the west side. This section runs all the way to the street and is entirely ABS plastic pipe. The line was in good condition with no major issues observed.

Second Video – Kitchen Sink Cleanout We then accessed the sewer line from the kitchen sink cleanout on the east side of the house. We pulled the camera backwards to inspect the condition under the house. This section is 4-inch ABS pipe (possibly 3-inch in some areas) running right down the middle of the home.

As expected, we saw more food debris and grease buildup the closer we got to the kitchen sink line — very common in kitchen laterals.

What We Found

  • Pipe Material: Consistent ABS plastic throughout both inspected sections
  • Layout:
    • West side RV access → street (ABS)
    • East side kitchen sink cleanout → under the house (ABS running down the center)
  • Condition: Generally good structural condition. Normal food/grease accumulation near the kitchen sink line. No major cracks, root intrusion, or offsets noted.

Recommendations

The main sewer line appears to be in solid condition. We recommend:

  • Regular kitchen line maintenance (hydro jetting every 1–2 years) to prevent grease and food buildup from causing slow drains or backups.
  • Keep both cleanouts accessible for future inspections or cleaning.
  • Schedule a full inspection every 3–5 years, especially on properties with RV hookups or older ABS systems.

Why Sewer Inspections Matter

Homes often have a mix of ABS, cast iron, and clay lines. Camera inspections give you peace of mind and help catch small issues before they become expensive repairs.

YDIG provides professional CCTV sewer inspections with clear video, real-time narration, and honest recommendations.
