At YDIG, we inspect and share real results — even when the footage is straightforward. Here’s our sewer camera inspection from Davis, California.
Project Goal: Evaluate the condition of the main sewer line from the side cleanout.

Inspection Walkthrough
We located the cleanout on the west side of the house, opposite the sprinkler valves (end-of-run / beginning-of-run cleanout). After adding a small amount of water for better visibility, we inserted the camera into the line.
The line starts with ABS plastic pipe and transitions into the city’s clay main. We pushed the camera as far as possible toward the main.
What We Found
- Pipe Materials: ABS transitioning to clay main
- Access: Cleanout on west side of house (good location)
- Condition: No major defects, roots, or blockages observed in the inspected section
- Note: This was a relatively short and straightforward inspection
Recommendations
The visible portion of the line appears to be in acceptable condition. We recommend:
- Periodic inspections every 3–5 years (especially on properties with older clay mains)
- Keeping the cleanout accessible for future maintenance
If you’re experiencing slow drains or backups, a more comprehensive inspection from another access point may be beneficial.
Why Sewer Inspections Matter in Davis With a mix of ABS, clay, and older infrastructure across the city, camera inspections help catch hidden issues before they become expensive problems.
