Sewer Line Inspection Report: 151 – Main Line Condition Check

Posted

Recently, we performed a full sewer camera inspection to evaluate the condition of the main sewer line. This is one of the smartest proactive steps any homeowner can take, especially before purchasing a property, planning renovations, or after noticing slow drains.

Inspection Setup

The property features a convenient two-way cleanout located in the driveway right next to the garage door. We inserted the camera from the street-side cleanout and began pulling it back toward the house.

The line is constructed of ABS plastic pipe, which is common in homes built from the 1970s onward and generally holds up well when properly installed.

What the Camera Revealed

As we pulled the camera back through the line, everything appeared in good, clean condition with no visible blockages, roots, or major damage. Once we reached the garage area, we flipped the camera 180 degrees to continue the inspection under the house.

Pushing the camera further in the direction of the building, we continued through solid ABS pipe. The section running beneath the foundation showed no immediate signs of sagging, cracks, or intrusions.

Summary of Findings

  • Pipe Material: ABS plastic – intact and in serviceable condition
  • Direction Inspected: Street to house + under-structure run
  • Notable Observations: No visible roots, grease buildup, offsets, or breaks encountered during this run
  • Access Points: Excellent two-way cleanout in driveway for future maintenance

Recommendations

While this initial inspection looked positive, sewer lines can develop issues over time. We recommend:

  • Scheduling a full-length video inspection every 3–5 years (or before buying/selling)
  • Installing cleanout caps with proper seals to prevent debris entry
  • Monitoring drains for any new slow-flow issues, which could indicate future problems

A clean sewer report like this one gives homeowners peace of mind and can be a strong selling point if you’re planning to list the property in the future.
